Lou Vaickus, MD, FACP, is a physician executive with more than 30 years of experience in start-ups as well as small, medium, and large companies. His expertise spans all aspects of drug development and clinical medicine: new chemical entities (NCEs), medical devices, assay development, biosimilars, foods, cell therapies, beneficial bacteria, diagnostics, and biologicals in a broad variety of indications including oncology, autoimmunity and immunology, respiratory, neurology, hematology, and infectious disease. His specialties are preclinical and clinical drug development plans and implementation (Phases 1-4), executive leadership and organizational structure, executive training, regulatory affairs/quality assurance, business development, financing, medical writing, and commercialization solutions.

Dr. Vaickus received his MD from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine and was trained in Immunology, Internal Medicine, and Hematology/Hematologic Malignancies at the Mayo Clinic and in Hematology/Oncology at Stanford University. He was a faculty member at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and Roswell Park Cancer Institute before joining industry in 1993. Dr. Vaickus has been board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology/Hematologic Malignancies, and Medical Oncology. He has over 60 peer-reviewed academic and industry-focused publications.
